Cub Scouts 101

Big lessons, hidden inside the fun.

Cub Scouts is a family-centered program for boys and girls in kindergarten through fifth grade. Age-appropriate adventures turn hands-on fun into growth in four important areas.

Explore Cub Scouts at Scouting America
01

Character

Practice doing your best, making thoughtful choices, and helping others.

02

Citizenship

Learn how to care for the community, the country, and the natural world.

03

Leadership

Grow confidence by working together, taking turns, and trying new roles.

04

Personal fitness

Build healthy habits for the body, mind, and everyday life.

Learning by doing

No two adventures have to feel the same.

Across Cub Scouting, families may find outdoor adventures, practical skills, games, service projects, races, celebrations, and other grade-level challenges. Each pack builds its own calendar, so ask Pack 343 what is coming next.

The smaller team

A den

Scouts are organized into grade-level groups called dens for age-appropriate adventures.

The whole community

A pack

All the dens, their families, and volunteer leaders together make up the pack.

The secret ingredient

Families

Parent and caregiver involvement helps meetings, activities, and the pack community thrive.

What families can expect

Come curious. Leave a little braver.

01

Belong to a team

Dens give children a smaller circle of peers while the pack brings every grade and family together.

02

Learn through experience

Adventures are designed around doing, practicing, exploring, and reflecting—not simply sitting and listening.

03

Grow together

Cub Scouting is family-powered. Adults participate, volunteer, and help create the community children remember.
